The orchestra season has begun and the Plainfield Symphony just had its first concert of the season. So music has been on my mind a lot lately.
I began to wonder who might be doing research on the healing power of music and I found some interesting stuff. I shared some of the neat information I found in a piece at mycentraljersey.com, titled “Music can heal the body, mind and spirit”. [Read it here]
To further confirm what I was learning about the health benefits of music, I found living proof of its invigorating power when I met an amazing inventor who, now in his 80’s, takes jazz piano lessons. Then I heard from a friend who has studied voice for many years, who joyfully share with me that she sang her first solo performances recently, at age 71.
It’s never too late to make music a part of your life and experience the joy, spiritual inspiration, and health benefits it brings.
